Clanjamfry: A Scottish Festival

Directions to the Festival:

Clanjamfry takes place on the grounds of Evergreen Presbyterian Church in midtown Memphis, Tennessee. It's located in the Vollentine-Evergreen Historic District neighborhood. The church is bounded by tree-lined residential streets and the Rhodes College campus, and is one block from Overton Park, the premier public space in the city of Memphis. Driving west into Memphis (from Nashville, Tennessee):

  1. Drive west on I-40 into Memphis.
  2. Continue straight under the beltway, I-240, and continue west on what is now called Sam Cooper Boulevard (Thru Traffic).
  3. Continue straight west for about 5 to 6 miles on Sam Cooper Blvd. until it T-intersects with a city street called East Parkway.
  4. Turn right on East Parkway. Continue north (about 2 blocks) to the next stoplight, which is at North Parkway/Summer Ave.
  5. Turn left on North Parkway. Continue west (about 3 blocks) to the next stoplight, which is at University. (You'll pass Rhodes College on your right.)
  6. Turn right on University. Evergreen Presbyterian Church is the second building on your left.



Driving north into Memphis (from Jackson, Mississippi):

  1. Drive north on I-55. As you come into Memphis I-55 goes to the left; the road you are on becomes the beltway, I-240, and continues into Memphis.
  2. Stay on the road (I-240) and continue straight north into Memphis. You should pass signs for Norris Road and South Parkway.
  3. Continue north on I-240 for about 5 to 6 miles.
  4. Continue north on I-240 past the point where I-40 joins it.
  5. Turn right on the Jackson Avenue exit.
  6. Go east on Jackson Avenue for a little over a mile.
  7. Turn right at the stop light on University Street. Evergreen Presbyterian Church is the second building on your left. University Street. After the turn, Rhodes College is on your left. Continue for three blocks. Evergreen is on your right.



Driving east into Memphis (from Little Rock, Arkansas, or St. Louis, Missouri):

  1. Take I-40 east across the bridge from West Memphis into Memphis (there are two traffic bridges spanning the Mississippi River at West Memphis; I-40 uses the one to your left, or the more northerly bridge).
  2. Continue east on I-40, crossing the river into Memphis. In a couple of miles, you must veer left to continue on I-40 (as if going to Nashville) or turn right to get on I-240 (as if going to Jackson, Mississippi).
  3. Veer left to continue on I-40. You are now heading north.
  4. Turn right on the Jackson Avenue exit.
  5. Go east on Jackson Avenue for a little over a mile.
  6. Turn right at the stop light on University Street. Evergreen Presbyterian Church is the second building on your left. University Street. After the turn, Rhodes College is on your left. Continue for three blocks. Evergreen is on your right.



Driving from the Memphis International Airport:

  1. Leave the airport and drive north into Memphis on Abe Plough Parkway (about 2 miles). As you reach the end of Abe Plough Parkway, you have the choice of veering to the left and proceeding into town on Airways Boulevard or veering right and getting on the beltway, I-240.
  2. Veer left and continue north on Airways Boulevard. You will stay on Airways Boulevard for about 2.5 miles. The name of the street changes to East Parkway. Continue straight on East Parkway for about 2.3 miles. You will eventually cross through the intersection of Poplar and East Parkway. The second stoplight after that is at North Parkway/Summer Ave.
  3. Turn left on North Parkway. Continue west (about 3 blocks) to the next stoplight, which is at University. (You'll pass Rhodes College on your right.)
  4. Turn right on University. Evergreen Presbyterian Church is the second building on your left.
